Psychology Assist

Home Sitota Home Psychology Assist

Confronted with traumatic events most people do not believe any more that the world is a safe place. Our goal is to help these people to re-find the inner balance. The assistance is based on the holistic approach, on treating the person as a whole.

The rehabilitation programs have three fundamental objectives:

  • Valorization of internal resources of the beneficiary
  • Awareness of personal needs and boundaries
  • Identification of modalities and solutions to overcome stressful situations.

In order to help our beneficiaries we use:

  • Individual and family counseling;
  • Psycho – emotional support and crisis intervention;
  • Individual, family and group psychotherapy;
  • Medical consultations of the psychiatrist.

Psychological counseling is a form of intervention addressed to persons in a crisis situation. The counselor helps the client to keep the situation under control and to find solutions to the problems he/she faces. Counseling is focused on developing useful practical skills.

The psychotherapy is focused on inner suffering (sadness, anxiety, pain, fear, panic attacks, etc.). During therapy, different

methods and techniques are used including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma processing through eyes movements therapy (EMDR), narrative therapy, storytelling through gradual exposure, etc. The duration of the therapeutic process is different and depends of the problem’s depth, severity and length. The opening, flexibility and cooperation of the person seeking help are also important factors.

If necessary, people will benefit from the combination of both: psycho-therapeutic treatment and medical and physical rehabilitation activities: physiotherapy, massage; thermotherapy, Ceragem, etc.

During the therapeutic program, with the support of the therapist, beneficiaries will follow three basic steps:

1) Training of skills to manage emotions and tension felt in the moments when you remember the traumatic event (through applying body relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, Mindfulness, etc.)

2) Coping with traumatic memories, guided by therapist, and integration of the traumatic experience (through different methods and techniques, including gradual exposure, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc.).

3) You will learn to address traumatic events from another perspective, in order to give them a meaning and to effectively manage traumatic experience. This allows you to become the person you want to be: confident, balanced, the person that is able to overcome any obstacle or challenge and to create a winning destiny.
